This is the album design for Sydney’s popular song group ÿen, they’re nothing but a bunch of dirty, ego-trippers, (the singer in particular) but I put my feelings aside for this project.
I used the theme of the song “blue morning” from ep (which expresses the frustration of falling in love with the sun) as a basis for the design. The imagery is based on simplicity which is a suggestion of yens minimal music style. With the combination of three pastille colours on a lightly textured background and the repetition of elements the images took on a minimalist quality.
Although I would call it a simplistic design, I think it’s quite delicate. The majority of the images were comprised from text from the lyrics of “blue morning” creating tasty balance between complexity and simplicity.
Some times less is more, if there are too many objects to look at, you simply don't see any of them. I think yen tend to write memorable songs and this album cover (along with the majority of most pop albums) reflects that... it’s clean and simple... I hope the front cover calls out to those who have fallen in love with the sun.
