Ÿen recently finished their single ‘Closer to Love’, it’s a beautiful track with a twisted European dance sound. The song paints a picture of a frustrated individual trying to connect with nature on a human level... to become “Closer to Love”. The song’s lyrics and sound reminded me of singer/ songwriter and visual artist 'Bat for Lashes' I found the video-clip to her song ‘What’s a Girl to Do’ as suitable
visual reference.
Working with Sydney photographer Ben Boehm and Jess Fitzpatrick was delightful. Putting aside a close miss by a car we created a space similar to the theme in ‘What’s a Girl to Do,’ capturing the delicate night, and the moment when the character (Jessica Fitzpatrick) achieves “Closer to love” in a state of distorted enlightenment.
